I've always been fascinated by animals and the natural world. There was a time when I gave up eating meat because I struggled with the idea of taking another life. Over time, my perspective evolved as I came to appreciate the larger cycle of life. Energy is constantly exchanged between living things, and even plants possess a form of consciousness. Life depends on life. There is no way to exist without participating in that exchange.
The glowing, ethereal snail represents that universal flow of energy. Resting on a dinner plate, it asks the viewer to pause and consider the life before them rather than seeing it as just another meal. It is both ordinary and sacred, reminding us that every living thing has value and plays a role in the intricate web of life.
This painting is ultimately about reverence. It is a reminder to honor Mother Earth and the countless forms of life that sustain us. We are not separate from nature but participants within it, and I believe we have much to learn by rediscovering how to live in balance with the world we share.
